Paris, June 7th 2010. Just under 150 people attended the conferences, round tables and visits organised by the editor a-SIS on June 1st and 2nd. This year, the event concentrated on transport and new Supply Chain trends.
Its success is ongoing. a-SIS Days attracted just under 150 people this year (Supply Chain, IT directors …), all sectors taken together, over two days. The reasons for its success in the opinion of Chantal Ledoux, the Chairman of a-SIS are that: « These Days are opportunities to exchange and share experiences. They offer a wealth of content, rooted in the current stakes, thanks to the crossed interventions of logistic directors and Supply Chain consultancy experts ».
This year, thirteen conferences, experience feedback sessions, round tables (a new format for the event!) and three site visits (Descours & Cabaud, FagorBrandt, Dessous Chéri) enable us to alternate between theoretical and operational content. And especially to deal with the crucial question of transport : its rationalisation particularly in a cross-channel strategy, its cost, the replenishments, its impact on the function and the skills of the logistic director not forgetting last kilometre logistics and deadlines, which are e-business priorities. « This is a major axis for the company. With the launch of our LOGISTICS MANAGER SUITE solutions universe, we’re filling out our Order Management and Flow Management proposal, to accompany both large international companies and small and medium-sized companies with their platform and transport optimisation approaches», comments Chantal Ledoux.
The Days were also an opportunity to review innovations and assistance tools for the operators of tomorrow. A « Pick by Vision » glasses prototype was thus presented. They will allow the operator to display the picking instructions and product features.
As far as mechanisation is concerned, the high point was the presentation of Savoye’s CPU (Compact Picking Unit) concept. A revolution in warehouse design, the CPU associates in particular a-SIS’ WMS and WCS solutions, Savoye’s Picking Tray System (system of shuttles which travel in pallet racks) and erecting and lidding machines (PAC 600/ Jivaro®/e Jivaro ranges). The CPU concept significantly reduces order preparation deadlines (an example shown demonstrated a switch passage from an average time of 2 hours in traditional preparation to 30 minutes in the context of the CPU concept). It also allows you to reduce the surface area devoted to order preparation in a ratio from 4 to 1, still in relation to a traditional mechanised preparation.
As every year, the Users’ Club met to take stock of companies’ requirements and expectations… to enable a-SIS’ solutions to progress even further.
