Without forgetting its roots, Candia has launched the drinking milk market into a new age. The modernisation of collection, an increase in production capacities, the industrialisation of structures, high technology, a thorough approach which has enabled them to commit themselves to quality standards since 1993. This commitment is translated today by the certification of the manufacturing sites and headquarters as being compliant with the norm ISO 9001 - V2000.
Choosing Logys®To respond to an ever-increasing customer demand and to achieve perfect stock control at its various manufacturing sites , Candia decided to install a-SIS' WMS Logys®.
Candia wished to implement a modular solution adapted to each site's requirements which respecting their peculiarities and to control automated equipment on these same sites : convoyors, pallet trucks, labelling system etc.
On each of its sites, milk is delivered in tankers, and then packaged in bottles or cartons which are manufactured in situ. This packaging is then regrouped into packs which are palletised, i.e. piled onto a pallet (total weight approximately 800 kg). This pallet is covered (wrapped in a plastic film), and then identified (labelled with a SSCC number). The pallet is then stored and dispatched to the Mass Distribution platforms. Some sites have an additional distribution activity : the transport products from other sites (goods-in, storage, dispatch ).

Control right from the end of production
Logys® can be fully interfaced with GeneriX which consolidates Candia's finished product stocks everyday and manages the identification of pallets as soon as they come out of production. Logys® allows the management of manufacturing orders (product batches, UBD, palletisation line no.) as well as automatic pallet identification thanks to the creation of a SSCC number (international Logistic Unit identifier). Graphic monitoring software provides pallet conveyor progress follow-up. Logys® controls infirmary conveyor exits before covering and labelling. Automated pallet labelling makes product traceability reliable.
To optimise flows and storage and to allow Candia to be more responsive, the WMS manages the stock and all types of storage: bays marked on the floor, pallet racks, automatic warehouses etc.
A central server for product traceability
The advantage of having installed the same solution at all of the group's manufacturing sites enabled Candia to have a central base which gives unique stock visibility which is shared by everybody. Intersite pallet transfers in particular are thus optimised as far as goods-in is concerned. This above all allows total product traceability. The Logys® central base enables you to recall a faulty product in a few minutes using a manufacturing time slot and a batch number (printing a list of delivered customers) but also the blocking of a dispatch which contains a faulty batch (quarantine). Quality improvement was one of the benefits observed by Candia since Logys® was installed.
Multi-level improvement
The considerable reduction in loading errors and the release of non saleable products are two of the advantages of Logys®. But one of the assets of the WMS is above all guaranteeing total traceability and an improvement in quality management which complies with the norm ISO 9001 – V2000 (information historised for 5 years).
Finally, the gradual implementation on all of the sites spread over several years ensured the durability of the solution
