Spa

Spadel is the undisputed leader of the market for mineral water in the Benelux countries with its activity focused on the production and the marketing of natural mineral water and sodas. In 1996 Spa Monopole, the main and longest established member of the group representing 76% of the group's volume, chose a-SIS' Logys® to manage two of its logistic sites.

Traceability and quality

History
Spa Monopole has 12 production lines for many different types of packaging, both reuseable (glass) and for recycling which are just used once. In 1997 Spadel launched an invitation to tender to equip the Belgian sites of Spa and Bru with a WMS.

Aims
The management wanted to control and trace the stock to comply with legal requirements and to facilitate the management of quality and traceability to be able to launch product recall procedures in the event of a problem. Spa Monopole also wanted to control the use of raw materials for the manufacturing processes and to create a link between raw material batches and finished products. A WMS would ensure stock reliability due to the automatic recording of the stock movements and so increase efficiency.

Choosing Logys®
The chosen system had to be installed on each site taking the specific parameters of each site into account: flow, control of the automatic labelling systems etc... It also had to be interfaced with BPCS and the quality management systems.
So the a-SIS' Logys® software was chosen and implemented at the site in Spa.

Implementation

Traceability extension
A partnership over a couple of years ensured the gradual installation of the different sites. With this solution, Spa Monopole could extend traceability management . The logistic units are automatically or manually identified according to the EAN128 standard applied to all types of packaging. The use of Logys® ensured flow control for the complete logistic chain from the reception of the raw material to the dispatch of the finished products.

Flow management
The modular concept of the a-SIS' products ensures the traceability of the raw material and the reliability of the different systems used in the company, the control and the detailed management of traceability: from the raw material to the finished products and all this for several sites.

Since the implementation of Logys®, the logistic processes as well as the quality have been greatly improved: high dispatch reliability , management of the quality blocking conditions, etc.
